How to read the map. Brightness shows how much we know about a charging point. Colour only arrives once there is knowledge.

Today every charging point sits at the far left. Recording of the operational status has begun, but it is still too short to support a statement. The map shows a stock whose location and technology we know — and not yet how dependable it is.

Reliability cannot be read off a location. It needs a time series: when was a charging point free, when occupied, when out of order — over months.

For part of the stock that recording has now begun: the operational status is captured hourly. But it is only a few hours long, and the method derives the half-life from the history itself — that takes months.

That is why nothing glows today, and why there is no ranking on this page. A figure without a basis would be worse than no figure at all.

What can be measured today

The master data is complete. What matters is the identifier a charging point uses to report its operational status — the EVSE ID. Without it, a charging point stays statistically invisible.
